Hydraulic Loading Ramp

How to Use a Mobile Loading Ramp (Mobile Dock Leveler) | Step-by-Step Guide
A mobile loading ramp (also called a mobile dock ramp or mobile yard ramp) is a highly flexible hydraulic lifting platform widely used in warehouses, logistics centers, factories, and freight stations. It connects trucks and ground to quickly realize forklift loading and unloading. Below is the standard operating procedure for safe and efficient use.
1. Pre-Use Inspection
Before operation, check the following key parts:
Inspect hydraulic oil level, oil pipes, and cylinders for oil leakage.
Check tires and support legs for damage or deformation.
Test the control button, emergency stop switch, and safety chain.
Ensure the working area is flat, dry, and free of obstacles.
2. Position the Mobile Dock Ramp
Push or drive the mobile loading ramp to the rear of the truck or container.
Keep a safe distance and align the ramp with the carriage.
Apply wheel brakes to prevent sliding during operation.
3. Lower Support Legs
Use the manual or electric control system to lower the four support legs until they firmly touch the ground.
Adjust legs individually to keep the ramp stable and level.
Proper support greatly improves safety and load capacity.
4. Adjust the Ramp Height
Operate the hydraulic system to raise or lower the ramp platform.
Adjust height to match the truck bed so the transition is smooth.
Make sure the ramp lip fully rests on the carriage floor for secure contact.
5. Secure Safety Chains
Hook the heavy-duty safety chains between the ramp and the truck.
Tighten chains to prevent relative movement between truck and ramp.
This step is critical to avoid slipping hazards.
6. Start Loading & Unloading
Drive forklifts or pallet trucks onto the mobile ramp slowly.
Keep speed low; do not turn sharply or brake suddenly.
Do not exceed the rated load capacity of the mobile loading ramp.
Only one forklift should be on the ramp at a time.
7. After Operation
Drive all equipment off the ramp.
Retract the hydraulic platform to the lowest position.
Release safety chains.
Retract support legs and release wheel brakes.
Move the mobile dock ramp to a designated storage area.
Clean debris and conduct a post-use inspection.
Safety Tips for Mobile Loading Ramp
Do not use on steep slopes or soft ground.
Keep hands and feet clear from hydraulic components.
Do not move the ramp while it is loaded or elevated.
Regularly maintain hydraulic system and structural parts.
